Background

A large internet service provider and media company established a new technology division to bring a new security product and service into their portfolio.

The new technology division bought in a commercial network security appliance technology to be integrated to the core product of the service provider. 

The issue

The engineers of the service provider are entrenched in developing and supporting features of their existing product offerings.  They do not have the resources to understand the technology of the network security appliance vendor.

On the other side, the network security appliance vendor has little knowledge and visibility of the service provider's technology and infrastructure.

Solution

Omar was brought in to come up with a solution for integration and to ensure the project is heading for success.

Omar studied, in a short period of time, the architecture and design of both service provider and network security appliance technology. 

Omar served as a communication point between both parties. Omar also resolved technical issues on both ends of the integration. 

He created integration modules for the service provider and network appliance provider, as well as various utilities that help detect integration issues, automate integration points, 

Omar was the forefront when the integrated system went live to production, monitoring, investigating, debugging, and resolving unexpected issues resulting from a large customer base deployment.

Results

The integration was a success, and a new product and service offering was successfully rolled out by the service provider.
